Platform Operations Analyst Job Description
As a Platform Operations Analyst you will be responsible for day to day platform health and performance. You will use monitoring and observability tools to detect anomalies, prioritise incidents and communicate status to stakeholders. You will also execute operational tasks such as deployments, configuration updates and capacity checks under established change control procedures.
You will play an active role in incident management, taking ownership of incident response coordination, root cause analysis and post incident reviews. Collaboration is vital: you will liaise with engineering, product, security and third party vendors to resolve complex issues and drive durable fixes. You will collect and analyse operational metrics to identify trends and recommend automation and process improvements that reduce mean time to recovery and improve reliability.
Additionally, you will maintain and evolve runbooks, update knowledge bases, assist with onboarding of new services and contribute to on call rotas. A methodical approach to documentation, strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate technical information to non technical audiences are essential for success in this role.
Platform Operations Analyst Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor platform health and alerts using observability tools and dashboards.
- Lead incident triage, escalation and communication until resolution.
- Conduct root cause analysis and produce post incident reports.
- Manage on call duties as part of a rota and respond to out of hours incidents.

Platform Operations Analyst Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or relevant technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in platform operations, SRE or DevOps support roles.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or Datadog.
- Good knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
- Practical experience with Linux system administration and scripting (Python, Bash).
- Understanding of incident management frameworks and post incident reviews.
- Competent with logging, metrics and tracing concepts for troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills to work with technical and non technical stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritise tasks under pressure and manage multiple incidents concurrently.
- Experience with SQL and basic data analysis to interpret operational metrics.
- Familiarity with CI CD pipelines and infrastructure as code is desirable.
